Ritual Salt Mixture - Hades
Ritual Salt Mixture - Hades
Ritual Salt Mixture - Hades
Semiphoras' ritual salt mixtures are made using traditional methods from high-quality raw materials such as Dead Sea salt, crystals, herbs, flowers, gold and silver leaf. Carefully selected and sanctified ingredients rich in symbolic meaning are mixed into a ready-made ritual salt mixture. Salt mixtures are especially intended for ritual practices where purification, protection and increasing strength are key elements. We recommend using salt mixtures during the Purifico phase in purification rituals and also as part of altar rituals to represent purity and the earth element.
In Greek mythology, Hades was the god of the dead and the king of underworld. The kingdom he ruled was located deep in the bowels of the earth. Five rivers flowed through the area; Acheron, Phlegethon, Kokytos, Lethe and Styks. The Styks was a border river, over which the ferryman (Kharon) rowed the souls of the departed in his old decayed boat. According to the myth, the dead had to pay Charon an obol, so the Greeks used to put a gold coin in the mouth of the dead. Hades' trusted companion, the three-headed watchdog Kerberos, guarded the great gates of the underworld, making sure that the dead did not escape and that the living did not enter the gates. In Greek mythology, Hades was not so much seen as evil, but as a dark, harsh and just god. Hades was the wealthiest of the gods because he owned all the precious metals and riches hidden in the earth.
Symbol meaning
Salt has been used in rituals for millennia and has always had a strong symbolic meaning in different faith traditions. Its typical symbolic meanings are related to purification, protection, energy balancing, sanctification and even exorcism. Salt carries the power of the earth element with it and it also symbolizes feminine energy. It has been used in spells and magic, funerals, mummification and amulets. Salt has been strongly associated with purity, sanctity and spiritual protection, and was believed to help maintain a connection with the Divine realm as well as ensure people's transition from life to the afterlife.
- Dead Sea salt has versatile symbolism and has taken on special meaning in many cultures and belief systems. Dead Sea salt comes from one of the deepest and saltiest waters in the world. Thus, it symbolizes depth, mysticism and access to hidden knowledge and wisdom. It is particularly known for its cleansing and nurturing mineral content and thus reflects a purifying effect that helps release past burdens and create a new beginning. Dead Sea salt is historically known for its protective and healing properties. Symbolically, it can represent protection from evil energy and a sense of strength to overcome difficulties.
-
Black Tourmaline : Tourmaline is believed to protect against malicious wishes and all kinds of negative energies. It cleanses and helps open emotional blockages. Tourmaline is a shamanic stone that brings protection in rituals. In a psychological sense, black tourmaline is believed to help you understand yourself and others better. It dispels the feeling of victimhood and attracts inspiration, compassion, tolerance and prosperity.
- Juniper berry : juniper has been used as a herb for thousands of years. The Ebers Papyrus of the ancient Egyptians as well as a work on medicinal plants written by the Yellow Emperor of China, Huang-di, mention the important effects of juniper berries. In addition, juniper berries were believed to protect against evil spirits, ghosts and wild animal attacks, and they were used to be carried around like an amulet. Juniper berries have also been used for spiritual cleansing and ritual baths.
-
Sulfuric quartz : Sulfuric quartz is a geological impossibility, as the sulfur should have been worn away during the formation of the quartz mineral. Sulfur quartz is thought to help cope with conflicts and difficult situations. Its powerful negative electrical charge makes it a powerful energy cleanser that quickly brings problems to light so they can be resolved.
Ritual use
Ritual salt is designed to be used to cleanse yourself from something that you feel is limiting, a chain and hindering your own growth and aspirations. It is recommended to be used especially in times when it is time to leave the old behind, and when you want to move forward in life. If you want to strengthen the symbolic effectiveness of the purification ritual, you can do it at the time of the new moon or the waning moon. The waning moon symbolizes e.g. letting go of the unnecessary and Uusikuu, on the other hand, cleansing.
Salt can be used in many ways in rituals. Listen to your own intuition about what feels right or suitable for you. Here are a couple of examples:
Ritual 1:
- Preparation: Before starting the ritual, choose a calm and undisturbed space. You can also light a candle or incense to create an atmosphere conducive to the ritual.
- Awareness: Take the crystal stones on top of the salt in the left palm and pour the salt mixture into the right palm. Focus for a moment on the symbolic energy of salt and stones. Close your eyes and breathe calmly and deeply for as long as you want, focusing on the sacred and powerful vibration of the salt and what you are leaving behind.
- Cleansing: when you are ready you can use salt to symbolically clean objects, space or yourself of negative energies. Visualize the salt absorbing the things you want to leave behind.
- Leaving the old behind: at the end of the ritual, throw/sweep/rinse the used salt away and feel how the thing to be left behind is washed away with the salt. Feel relieved.
- Thank you: After the ritual is completed, thank you for the help you received. You can say thank you out loud or in your mind.
Ritual 2: a ritual performed in natural water
- Preparation: Before starting the ritual, choose a quiet and undisturbed place.
- Cleaning: when you're ready, walk into the water to the depth you want. Wash yourself symbolically with salt and at the same time visualize how the salt absorbs the things you want to leave behind. Immerse yourself in the water, allowing the natural water to completely wash away what is left behind. Get out of the water and feel relaxed and renewed.
