Selenite is hydrous calcium sulfate and one of the four naturally occurring forms of gypsum. Selenite is relatively clear, translucent or white. Thanks to the fiber lines, the light shimmers on its surface, which produces the characteristic appearance of selenite. The name selenite comes from the Greek word σελήνη, which means the Moon.
