Symbolic Meaning
In ancient Egypt, the rearing cobra was a symbol of protection and royal power. The cobra depicted on the pharaoh’s forehead is known as the uraeus. It was associated particularly with the goddess Wadjet, the protector of Lower Egypt, who was believed to guard the ruler against enemies.
Cobras were also depicted along the upper edges of shrines as symbols of protection. Against this historical background, the cobra on the box can be interpreted as a guardian: it symbolically watches over the treasured objects placed inside.
Symbolism is always multilayered and open to many interpretations. Everyone can approach it from their own perspective, enriching their understanding of the symbol’s different dimensions.
