Asterophyllites is a plant from the extinct Calamitaceae family related to the modern horsetails. Some members of this family attained tree-like stature during the Carboniferous Period (c. 360 - 300 million yeras ago). Asterophyllites is recognized by the cluster of leaves that are narrow and possess a midvein running the length to or close to the tip. Excellent condition. Age-related wear and minor abrasion. Size of the sediment approx. 7,0cm x 6,2cm x 1,8cm. Weight c. 140g.
