Eagle talons have been used in jewellery and ceremonial objects by some Indigenous peoples of North America. For example, an eagle-talon necklace associated with the Otoe-Missouria people, made from hide and glass beads, has been dated to the late 19th or early 20th century.
Ideas associated with the eagle vary between nations. In many traditions, however, the eagle has been regarded as a sacred bird with a connection to the spiritual world. In Lakota tradition, the eagle is associated with strength, honour, clear vision and a connection to the Creator.
Symbolism
The eagle is often associated with strength, courage, freedom and the ability to see circumstances from a broader perspective. In contemporary symbolic use, the talon shape can represent determination, a firm grasp and defensive strength.
The amulet can serve as a reminder to use one's strength thoughtfully and maintain direction in challenging circumstances.
Care instructions
Stainless steel can withstand occasional contact with water. Dry the jewellery after it becomes wet, and avoid strong cleaning products and prolonged exposure to moisture to preserve the polished surface and oxidised details.
