Symbolic meaning
Chakras are subtle energy centres, often described as spinning points of energy that act as places of energetic exchange. The human body is said to contain hundreds of chakra points, but the best known and most central are the seven main chakras, which are located along the body’s central channel, in line with the spine.
When the chakras function well, they are understood as gateways for life force: energy flows into the body through the channels of the subtle body, known as nadis and meridians. At the same time, they are also said to guide lower-vibration energy out of the body, where it can be transformed.
