The Birth of Venus is a painting by the Italian artist Sandro Botticelli, probably painted in the mid-1480s. It depicts the goddess Venus arriving at the shore after her birth, having emerged from the sea fully grown (this is known as Venus Anadyomene and the subject has been depicted often in art). The painting is housed in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy.
