Blue onyx calcite is a layered, calcite-rich carbonate stone. Its blue, white and brown bands formed as calcium carbonate was deposited in layers through the action of groundwater and mineral-rich solutions. The word “onyx” in its trade name refers to the stone’s banded appearance. Geologically, however, it is not true onyx, which belongs to the quartz group.
Symbolic meaning
In modern crystal traditions, blue calcite is associated with peace, mental clarity and gently processing emotions. Its blue colour is also linked to communication, finding your own voice, and expressing thoughts and feelings with greater clarity and confidence.
