Symbol meaning

The Tree of Life / World Tree is one of humanity’s oldest and most widespread symbols. It connects heaven, earth, and the underworld, with its roots stretching across nearly all ancient cultures. In Norse tradition, it is known as Yggdrasil, a colossal ash tree whose roots and branches support the entire order of existence. Similar trees of life can be found in ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, India, and in the Kabbalistic system of the Sephirot.

The tree represents the connection between spirit and matter. Its roots symbolize the subconscious and the past, the trunk conscious life, and the branches spiritual growth. It is a blueprint of the human soul: the roots are anchored in experience so the branches can reach for the light.

In the depiction, the tree glows with golden light, surrounded by the phases of the moon. This links the ancient tree symbol to the cycles of the moon, time, and inner transformation. The moon’s phases reflect the constant motion of life and the eternal cycle of death and renewal.

For Semiphoras, the World Tree represents the cosmic structure of the soul. It is a reminder that within each person grows an inner tree connecting earth and heaven, the visible and the invisible. This symbol invites the strengthening of roots and the opening of consciousness to higher levels — to become one with the entire web of life.
