Weighted tuning fork for the treatment of the 4th chakra.

Tuning forks are based on the cosmic octave system developed by Swiss mathematician and musicologist Hans Couston. In it, natural cycles, such as the Earth's orbital period around the Sun, are mathematically converted into audible sound frequencies using octaves. This is a symbolic-mathematical model, not a scientific measurement.

Weighted tuning forks

Weighted tuning forks have a particularly strong physical effect, as their vibration is felt more intensely and deeper when the base of the fork is placed against the body. This is due to the weights at the ends of the prongs, which amplify the fork’s vibration and prolong its duration, while directing the vibration more effectively into the body’s tissues.

Symbol meaning

4th chakra – Heart Chakra (Anahata) - frequency: 136.10 Hz (cosmic OM)

The 136.10 Hz frequency of the tuning fork is not arbitrary; it is derived from the length of the Earth’s year and converted into an audible frequency. The 136.10 Hz frequency is associated with the heart chakra, as well as a sense of wholeness and calm. The heart chakra tuning fork is tuned to this OM vibration. The heart chakra is linked with spirituality and devotion.

Chakras

Chakras are subtle energy centres within the body that function both as receivers and transmitters of energy. Although there are hundreds of chakra points, the best known are the seven main chakras located along the body’s central channel in alignment with the spine. They regulate the flow of vital energy through energy pathways known as nadis and meridians, while also enabling lower-frequency energy to be released and transformed into more subtle forms.

Each main chakra corresponds to a particular level of consciousness or stage of life from the perspective of physical existence. Prolonged negative emotional states and habits may weaken the functioning of the chakras, making it more difficult to express the qualities associated with these levels. When the chakras are open and balanced, they form an integrated system in which each centre supports the optimal functioning of the others.

Directions for use

Activate the tuning fork by gently tapping it against the palm of your hand, and:

  • place the vibrating base of the fork against the body in the area of the sternum, on the back or shoulders, or hold it near the ears
  • use it in a quiet space, often as part of relaxation or body-based practice

Use is calm and simple. The intention is not to “do” anything, but to allow the vibration to be present, to be felt, and to work within the body. The tuning fork supports relaxation.
