Symbolic meaning
Eguzkilore (“sunflower” in Basque) is a powerful symbol of protection, light, and life in Basque mythology. The flower’s name refers to the sun, as its shape resembles a radiant sun. This wild silver thistle (Carlina acaulis) has traditionally been hung on the doors of rural homes to ward off witches, evil spirits, illness, and thunderstorms, keeping harm at bay. At its core, the symbol is connected to light — that which reveals, clarifies, and dispels darkness.
The gold tone complements the design visually. It has traditionally been associated with the sun and durability, reinforcing eguzkilore’s connection to light.
Water resistance
Although the jewellery is water-resistant, we recommend drying it after exposure and avoiding contact with cleaning agents to ensure the longest possible lifespan.
