This unique and spectacular Dorje or Vajra is handcrafted in Tibet. Skillfully cast from bronze, Dorje is finished with a carefully cast copper layer. Size approx. 23mm x 98mm.

Symbol meaning

Vajra (Vajra in Hindi, Dorje in Tibetan), i.e. lightning rod or diamond, is a symbolic object found in Vajrayana Buddhism. Vajra represents the superiority of the tantric path, great compassion, masculinity and skillful deeds. Dorje also symbolizes indestructibility. Like a diamond, it is capable of breaking and disintegrating, but remains intact and bright. It symbolizes the indestructible and cutting nature of spiritual power. The middle part of the Dorje embodies the ultimate nature of reality and its branching ends symbolize important Buddha families.

Ritual use

Dorje is often used with a bell. Together, Dorje and the bell represent a balance between masculine and feminine energy: Dorje represents masculine energy such as strength and action, while the bell represents feminine energy (and śūnyatā) such as wisdom and receptivity. They also symbolize the nondualistic nature of enlightenment. In ceremonies, the vajra is held in the right hand and the bell in the left hand.

Here is a simple ritual where you can use dorje. This ritual is intended to strengthen mental clarity and spiritual protection.

Ritual: strengthening mental clarity and spiritual protection

Items needed:

• Dorje (in right hand)
• Bell (on left hand)
• A meditation platform or a comfortable seat
• An altar or a quiet space

Vicissitudes:

1. Preparation : Sit in a comfortable position, with your back straight and your legs crossed or on a chair so that your feet are firmly on the ground. If you have an altar, place the Dorje and bell on the altar. You can light a candle or incense if it helps you focus.

2. Concentration : Close your eyes and focus on your breathing. Take a few deep breaths in and out to calm your mind. Feel the relaxation in your body during each exhalation. Let all everyday thoughts fall silent and just focus on the moment.

3. Take the Dorje and the watch in your hands : Hold the Dorje in your right hand and the watch in the left. Dorje symbolizes spiritual power, while the bell symbolizes wisdom. Take a moment to feel the weight of objects and their symbolism.

4. Visualization : Visualize a bright light radiating from the dorja. This light represents the power and clarity of the mind, capable of Dispelling all illusions and distractions. At the same time, imagine that the bell is making a gentle, clear sound that resonates with wisdom.

5. Ritual Gesture : Raise the Dorje to the height of your forehead, at the third eye, and recite in your mind or out loud: "With the power of this Dorje, I invoke clarity of mind and spiritual protection." Ring the bell lightly with your left hand and let the sound reverberate through the space. Let the resonance of the sound fill your whole body and your surroundings.

6. Meditation : Hold the Dorje and the bell in your hands and focus on their symbolism. Allow your mind to focus on the power and clarity represented by Dorje and the wisdom represented by the clock. Continue this meditation for 10-15 minutes or as long as you feel necessary.

7. Ending the ritual : End the meditation slowly. Put down the Dorje and bell and thank yourself and the objects used in the ritual. You can end the ritual by saying thanks or dedicating it to a specific goal or person.

8. After the ritual : Take a moment to rest before continuing with your daily activities. Write down any thoughts or feelings that came up during the ritual if it feels appropriate.
