A Ghau (also spelled Gau, Gao) is a Tibetan Buddhist miniature altar, a portable protective Amulet or talisman, and a sacred box inside which other magical ingredients are stored. Most Ghauts are made of copper and bronze. The often silvered cover part of the amulet is decorated with elaborate bindings and sometimes with gemstones (turquoise & coral). Important mantras and sacred symbols are repeated as subjects of decorative compulsions. Ghau holds printed or handwritten messages blessed by the Lama. Behind the "window" separated by a piece of glass, there is also a votive (tsa tsa) made of clay or stone, a small image of Buddha or another deity, colorful fabric prayer flags, healing herbs, etc.
Symbol meaning
Ghau is believed to ward off evil spirits, negative energies and protect its wearer in many different ways. In addition, it is believed to attract good luck, money and love.
Ritual use
The Ghau amulet is often worn around the neck so that the box is close to the heart.
Note! Ghau amulets are handcrafted and have been used diligently, j so each of them is its own unique individual. Because of this, colors and shapes may vary. Ghauts may be dusty, patinated and may have minor surface defects. Trust that the song you intuitively selected resonates best with your personal purpose.
