Symbolism

The image is inspired by the myth of Leda and the Swan, known through Leonardo da Vinci’s drawings and workshop copies attributed to his pupil Cesare da Sesto. In the story, Zeus approaches Leda in the form of a swan, and from their union are born the twins Castor and Pollux — symbols of light and darkness, mortality and immortality.

In the myth, Leda represents receptive consciousness — open to divine power and transformed by its influence. The swan embodies the creative spiritual force that unites spirit and matter, awakening consciousness into life.

At the heart of the image lies an alchemical essence: the union of spirit and matter giving birth to new form. The tattoos visible in the design link the ancient myth to the present moment, suggesting humanity’s own power of transformation. The swan’s white plumage symbolises the light of the soul, the illumination of consciousness, and the gentle force guiding one towards inner awakening.

This image may be read as a story of inner conception — the moment when a new form of awareness is born within the human being.

Symbolism is always multilayered by nature and opens up to a variety of interpretations, each enriching one’s understanding of its many dimensions.
