Swan - between good and evil
The white swan depicted on the velvet pouch relates to the classical myth of Leda and the Swan, famously depicted by Leonardo da Vinci and his pupils. Voglio Bène has reinterpreted this historical motif and named it Il Bene – Il Male, meaning good and evil.
In many cultures, the swan is a liminal figure, moving between water and air, the visible and the invisible, light and shadow. Its pure white form is associated with beauty, innocence, and spiritual clarity. At the same time, in ancient myths, the swan can also be an instrument of divine power, seduction, and fate.
In the artwork depicted on the velvet pouch, the swan serves as a metaphor for duality: it can simultaneously carry both good and evil. This juxtaposition invites reflection on the interconnection of opposites—how light and shadow intertwine in life to create wholeness.
