Quartz is a mineral composed of silicon dioxide, SiO₂, and is one of the most common natural minerals in the world. It occurs in many different forms, including clear rock crystal, milky quartz, smoky quartz, amethyst, citrine and numerous other varieties. Clear quartz, also known as rock crystal, is translucent, with a glassy lustre, internal veils and natural inclusions.

Thanks to its hardness, quartz is well suited to decorative objects such as bowls, carvings and polished forms. Each quartz piece is unique, and its inner clouds, fractures and growth patterns are part of the stone’s natural character.

Worry stones

Worry stones are smooth, polished stones used to calm the mind and ease tension. They are typically oval in shape and have a thumb-sized indentation, although other forms also exist. Originally, worry stones were naturally shaped stones smoothed by water; today, they are often made from semi-precious stones such as amethyst.

The history of worry stones is wide-ranging: they have been used in ancient Tibet, Greece, Ireland and among the Indigenous peoples of the Americas. In ancient Greece, stones smoothed by seawater served as calming amulets, while Native American peoples regarded their worry stones as family heirlooms and a spiritual connection to their ancestors.

Symbolism

In crystal tradition, quartz is regarded as one of the central stones of clarity, wholeness and energetic amplification. It is thought to act as a symbol of spiritual cleansing, connecting the physical self with the spiritual dimension. Quartz is associated with the idea of adapting to the needs of the moment and reflecting the clarity, balance or strength that each situation calls forth.

Clear quartz is believed to amplify energy and raise awareness towards higher understanding. Because clear quartz refracts and contains the many tones of light, it is symbolically seen as a stone that works on many levels of being.
