The fascinating Ogyginus is a genus of asphiditrilobites that lived during the Ordovician period, about 450 million years ago. Fossils of the species have been found especially in Wales. The species was discovered in 1839 and was initially known as Asaphus corndensis. The sport was later renamed. A small Ogyginus corndensis fossil in the kapp ale of the sediment . In good condition. The fossil is protected by a thin layer of shellac. Age-related wear, small breaks and cracks. The piece of sediment is about 35mm x 31mm x 11mm in size. The trilobite itself approx. 25mm x 19mm. Weight approx. 17g.
Trilobites ( Trilobita ) are extinct arthropods that somewhat resemble a Moluccan crab or a crab. They lived in the sea and were the most successful animals of their time. Trilobites flourished during the Cambrian period, which began about 542 million years ago. Since the trilobites were fully developed at that time, their stock forms must have already lived in the Ediacaran period 630–542 million years ago. Trilobites are the earliest known class of arthropods, with more than 25,000 known species. A possible ancestor of trilobites was Spriggina , which lived in shallow seawater during the Precambrian. After the Cambrian period, trilobites became rare, but some species survived until the Permian period, which ended about 251 million years ago.
Symbol meaning
Trilobites, like other fossils, remind you concretely of the importance of transition processes, transformation and personal growth, helping you to understand the mystery of life and the destiny of time. In astrology, its signs are Capricorn and Virgo.
Ritual use
Trilobites have been found in ancient Egyptian, Greek and Roman tombs, with holes drilled into them suggesting that they were used as amulets. Used on an altar or as an amulet, fossils help you move from the old to the new, from the past to the future.
Note! Fossils are natural products, j so each of them is its own unique individual. Because of this, colors, shapes and brightness may vary. The condition varies from moderate to good and they have wear, fractures and small chips typical of fossils.
