A detailed, small trilobite fossil. Ogyginus is a genus of aspidistrilobites that lived during the Ordovician period, about 450 million years ago. Fossils of the species have been found especially in Wales. The species was discovered in 1839 and was initially known as Asaphus corndensis. The species was later renamed. A small Ogyginus corndensis fossil in a sedimentary rock. In good condition. The fossil is protected by a thin layer of shellac. Age-related wear, small fractures and cracks. The sediment piece is about 35mm x 31mm x 11mm. The trilobite itself is about 25mm x 19mm. Weight about 17g.
